Getting Started With WordPress - How to Get a WordPress Website Up & Running Fast

Want to get a WordPress website up and running? There are several steps you will have to take to get your blog up and running. I will go over the easiest way, but feel free to use your own methods of setting up your blog for maximum results. If you're new to blogging, you'll want to follow my step by step guide to get your blog up and running quickly!

First, choose a blogging platform. There are many available and highly popular such as WordPress, Blogger, TypePad, Weebly, Movable Type, Xanga, and Blogger. If you're new to blogging, then choose one that doesn't require any knowledge of coding. WordPress is probably the best free and open source content management system (Coding) designed in PHP and paired with MySQL or MariaDB. Features include a simple template system and an easy plugin architecture, also known as themes.

Next, choose a siteground theme. A siteground is just a web server, and this will be where your static files live. You can install most siteground themes on your own server, or you can pay someone to install it for you. Make sure your theme is designed for your personal site (i.e., not for a public website). Most siteground themes are very easy to install and use.

After installing your theme, you will need to either upload your files or copy your files from your web server to your personal website. Uploading your files is probably the biggest difference between a WordPress site and a regular website. Since you're not storing your files on your web server, you can move everything around as needed.

Finally, you will need to find and install plugins. Plugins are software packages that allow you to change how your WordPress site looks. For example, some plugins will let you change the color scheme, fonts, and more. There are literally thousands of plugins available, so finding the right ones to use for your website should be easy. Just search for WordPress plugins on Google or similar search engine, or visit one of the many theme forums for ideas.

Getting started with WordPress isn't difficult at all if you follow the right steps. These three steps should help you get your website up and running quickly.
